Oh my goodness, incredible Mexican food. Quaint little place, is attached to a Mexican bakery they make their own sweet breads. I had the chili Verde plate with rice and beans salad, and an horchata over ice was a nice drink to have with my meal. Give them a try. yum. 😉

My wife and I favorite breakfast spot, chula qués are amazing and even better is the Chile relleno plate.

The food and service was absolutely fantastic. Authentic food like my mother use to make. The #75 enchilada plate was delicious.

I loved the all meat burrito, I got a carne asada. I usually am very picky with my meat and this was so good. Very glad my mom brought me here. I will be going back.

Great local dive. Menudo has to be awesome. People bring there own vats to have filled up. Breads, cakes, etc. Traditional eggs & bacon with cakes available. The coffee is great. Friendly staff is attentive to all your needs. You have to give this a chance.

A friend that goes here frequently took me here (I'm not from this area). The food was delicious and the chips seemed to be homemade. Good quality food at an incredibly low price. Will definitely go here again.

Really authentic menudo here, people come in and buy them by the pots! Definitely worth the wait! We asked for bolillo con mantequilla for our menudo, something a lot of people sleep on. The salsa is really bomb and goes great with any dish. I’m not from around this area but I would definitely come back if I’m ever around.

I'm not a huge fan of the restaurant, but the pan dulce is great! Others seem to love this place, so maybe give it a shot and see what you think.

El Merendero is the best restaurant I've tried in a long time. The food is delicious and reasonably priced and the menu varied. The decor is cute and the open kitchen makes it feel homey. It's wonderful, too, to stop by the bakery for their cheap, delicious baked goods. My only complaint is that it gets really crowded on the weekends and the staff have no system in place to seat guests in order. We were there recently on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was really crowded. There was no wait list and although we arrived first, a pushy couple seated themselves before us as soon as a table was clear. The wait staff did absolutely nothing, even after we complained. I would not return here on a weekend because of the poor service, although service is great on week nights.

I ate the green chili chicken enchiladas. They were very good. The green chili was just right. The beans and rice were cooked to perfection.

Best Mexican food on town. Also at the bakery they sell the adtesanal flower gelatines and a seasonal brakes.

This is my most favorite Mexican restaurant. We've eaten here since 1981. It use to be located by the Fox theater. The restaurant is nice and everyone is friendly. The food is so good and a burrito can easily be two meals. I'd say go check this place out.

The food really sucks here. We ordered menudo at first and the first bite made us return it because the soup was not thick at all , the meats tasted old and bad. And a order of shrimp cocktail the sauce for this cocktail is not thick enough and not even sweet. Very bad food. Never here again.

This restaurant/cafe probably has the best pozole or menudo in town. Rich tomato chili base based broth. Is my guess. Both soups are made with hominy beans? Comes with a side of your choice of flour or corn tortillas. Finely diced onions, dried chili flakes, dried oregano and wedges of lime.

Food is great! Pan Dulce is even better! Champurrado is on point! 🤤

Wonderful food, I would've given them 5 star rating. But they missed refilling our soda and coffee. But to their credit it was pretty busy. The food is very, very good. Despite the small step back.

During lunch I thought it would be very busy as I had guests that wanted Mexican food. But it wasn't because it was through the week . I had my shrimp enchiladas and I'm telling you it was the best as usual. My waitress was excellent!

My daughter went to order a cake for her 4 yo sons birthday. It was 8:45 pm. The door was locked but there were employees inside and clearly saw her standing there, they just turned the lights off at 8:45 pm. I guess they don't value customers business. We will now ho elsewhere for ALL of our bakery needs. Merendero just lost a once loyal customer.

Me and my friend wanted to get burritos before a punk show at Characters and found this place that was within walking distance. We were kind of confused when we walked in because we thought it was more of a fast food Mexican joint, but you can seat yourself and they'll bring menus over.
